Are you ready to be a part of something exceptional? Our friendly Strategy, Policy and Engagement team are seeking a Policy Analyst to work in Invercargill, New Zealand.
Our Strategy, Policy and Engagement team looks after the Council's plans and strategies including the long-term plan, bylaws and policies. With so much to do to support our developing community, your days will be filled with a variety of work, providing policy and strategic advice to Council under the guidance of the Manager - Strategy, Policy and Engagement.
The hours of work for this position are 40 hours per week to be worked 8:00am - 5:00pm Monday to Friday. This is a two year fixed term position.
$36.18 - $46.82 per hour

Key responsibilities for this role include:
- Developing and presenting policy and strategic advice to Council under the guidance and direction of the Manager - Strategy, Policy and Engagement.
- Contributing to working groups on strategic policy issues, as well as supporting strategic planning activities for teams across Council.
- Opportunity to contribute to improved Council operational policy, taking on projects as required - analysing and reporting on key issues, challenges and opportunities facing Council, Invercargill and it's communities.
- Report writing and ensuring the implications of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, Human Rights and equity considerations are fully addressed in policy work.
- Coordinating delivery of Section 17 reviews of Council activities and supporting the Corporate Analyst with delivery of LTP, Annual Plan and Annual Report outputs.
What you will bring:
- A tertiary level qualification in a policy or social sciences area
- A high level of political acumen and judgement
- Report writing experience
- Self-motivated with a high degree of initiative and the ability to manage significant workloads
- Ability to analyse complex information with well-developed listening, verbal and written communication skills.
