Business Analyst
12 Month Fixed Term
It's an exciting time to be in Invercargill and join a future focused Council.
Waihōpai Invercargill is New Zealand's southernmost city and the heart and hub of Southland. We're known for our lush green spaces like Queens Park, our long summer daylight hours and our local legend Burt Munro. Our city has character, charm and a laidback atmosphere. There's outstanding nature reserves, Ōreti Beach, the Waihōpai River, a lively restaurant scene and a sensible gridded layout with wide streets and a 10-minute drive to work.
We are in a chapter of immense growth, building a vibrant city centre and reinvigorating our culture and spaces, and this is an exciting time to join a Council that is focused on the future of our people and our city.
We are seeking two experienced and motivated Business Analyst's to join our Information Services team on a fixed-term basis to cover a 12‑month period of parental leave.
Reporting to the Product Lead - Council Services you will work closely with Council staff, managers and external stakeholders to analyse Council's business services, processes, and information needs. You'll be an important part of our organisation, ensuring overall effectiveness and efficiency are achieved. Come and join us during this proactive time of change and new experiences within the organisation as we go through the TechnologyOne adoption journey.
Your analytical skills, excellent understanding of IT systems, and ability to communicate with non-technical stakeholders and staff will allow you to identify and articulate process and system improvement opportunities and provide support effectively.
What you will bring:
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a related Business Analyst, business improvement and/or Project Management position
- Ability to relay complex data and technical information to non-technical stakeholders effectively
- Broad understanding of IT systems, processes, services and capabilities
- Ability to evaluate risk and articulate concepts using technical and/or business language
- Proven experience with process modelling and facilitating workshops
A tertiary qualification in a related business analysis or improvement field is essential, but if you also have a qualification as a Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP), PRINCE2 Practitioner, Project Management Professional (PMP), or ITIL Foundations that will make you stand out above the rest. Knowledge of Local Government would also be a bonus.
