Catalogue Specialist

Our friendly Invercargill Libraries team are seeking a Catalogue Specialist.

The hours of work for this position are 20 hours per week, to be worked Monday to Friday.

Key responsibilities for this role include:

  • Ensuring resources are catalogued within acceptable timeframes and meet established standards, while maintaining, updating and improving existing records as required.
  • Identifying collection requirements and priorities for heritage collections such as the Local Collection e.g. conservation and preservation issues.
  • Providing advice on collection management and cataloguing trends
  • Providing data and analytics including research into other library collections and their catalogue entries
  • Managing donation requests including assessment and documentation
  • Contributing to customer enquiries, reader's advisory and rostered duties as required. This includes rostered weekend shifts.

What you will bring:

  • A recognised library qualification or tertiary qualification in a related discipline.
  • LIANZA professional registration.
  • Minimum four years' experience in libraries or related field
  • Familiarity with various cataloguing and classification methodologies and understanding of Library Management software.
  • Excellent public relations, service delivery and communication skills with strong commitment to customer service excellence and customer relationship management
