Our friendly Invercargill Libraries team are seeking a Customer Experience Specialist - Research and Home Services Coordinator to assist library customers with their research needs, providing information resources, and guiding individuals in navigating the library's extensive collection of materials and databases.
The combined hours of work for this position are 40 hours per week to be worked over a 5 week roster.
Key responsibilities for this role include: Customer Experience Specialist - Research:
- Assisting customers with their research needs, offering guidance on library resources, locating items, searching databases and resolving inquiries, complaints, and concerns.
- To champion the visibility of research and access services through contributing to displays and exhibitions that showcase the collections and databases available, and promotion of the available research and inter-loan services.
- Design and/or deliver outreach activities to engage and educate the community about the library's multimedia and digital offerings and deliver educational activities on the effective use of research tools, databases, genealogical skills
- Contributing to customer enquiries, reader's advisory and rostered duties as required. This includes rostered weekend shifts.
Key responsibilities for this role include: Home Services Coordinator:
- Coordinating timely delivery of a selection of books, audiobooks, and other materials to homes and care facilities, engaging with customers to understand their reading preferences and ensuring seamless access to library resources.
- Developing partnerships with community organisations, care facilities and other local resources to promote awareness and expand outreach efforts.
- Providing feedback to the Collection team on usage data, customer requests and demand for the large print and audiobook collections.
- To collaborate closely with the relevant Programming team members to ensure programmes and activities are complementary and mutually supportive.
- Foster a welcoming and inclusive environment by connecting with customers.
What you will bring:
- Minimum four years' experience in libraries or related field
- Level 5 Diploma in Library and Information Studies or equivalent level of knowledge, eg recognised library qualification or tertiary qualification in a related discipline.
- A sound understanding of research methodologies, available resources, databases, and reference tools with proven experience in independent researching and critical evaluation of information.
- Demonstration of sound judgement with understanding, respect and sensitivity to cultural diversity and customer types.
- Experience with vulnerable communities in a social services role.
- Ability and willingness to engage with all customers
