Building and Property Maintenance Supervisor

Our friendly Property team is seeking a Building and Property Supervisor for a six‑month fixed‑term opportunity to support the delivery of Council's facilities maintenance programme and ensure our buildings are safe, compliant, and fit for purpose.
Hours of work:
The hours of work for this position are 8:00am - 5:00pm, Monday to Friday.
Key responsibilities for this role include:
- Delivering the annual facilities maintenance programme, including scheduled and reactive maintenance for Council buildings
- Coordinating and managing contractors, procurement processes, and service level agreements
- Supporting the delivery of minor capital works for renewal and upgrading of Council buildings
- Ensuring Council buildings comply with relevant legislation, including the Building Act, BWOF, and health and safety requirements
- Managing emergency, corrective, and unplanned maintenance requests
- Monitoring contractor performance, resolving issues, and maintaining clear communication with stakeholders
- Coordinating compliance inspections, evacuations, and documentation
- Managing maintenance budgets, cost estimates, invoicing, and financial reporting
- Building strong relationships with tenants, internal stakeholders, and external providers
What you will bring:
- Demonstrated experience in building, facilities, or property maintenance, including coordinating scheduled and reactive works
- Proven ability to manage contractors and service providers, ensuring work is delivered safely, efficiently, and to agreed standards
- Sound knowledge of building compliance requirements, including the Building Act, Building Warrant of Fitness processes, and health and safety legislation
- Experience working with maintenance budgets, cost estimates, invoicing, and expenditure tracking
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and respond to urgent maintenance issues
- Well‑developed communication skills and the ability to build collaborative working relationships
- A proactive, practical, and solutions‑focused approach, with a strong commitment to risk management and health and safety
- Confidence using systems to accurately record, maintain, and report property and compliance information
