Our friendly Environmental Services team are seeking an Environmental Health Officer. The hours of work for this position are 8:00am - 5:00pm Monday - Friday.
Key responsibilities for this role include:
- Deliver education, monitoring, inspections, and audits in compliance with various Acts and regulations, including Food Act 2014, Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012, and others.
- Schedule and conduct regular inspections and audits, ensuring accurate processing of applications and reports within statutory guidelines.
- Investigate and respond promptly to complaints, taking enforcement actions when necessary, such as issuing notices or legal actions.
- Stay updated on legislation, seeking clarification when needed, and actively contribute to continuous improvement of processes.
- Collaborate with team members, provide enforcement, monitoring, and advice on Environmental Health matters, and contribute to the development of policies and educational programs.
What you will bring:
- Bachelor of Applied/Health Science (Environmental Health) or Graduate Diploma in Environmental Health and/or MPI Recognised Food Verifier.
- Eligibility for registration as an Environmental Health Officer with the New Zealand Institute of Environmental Health (for EHO applicants)
- Knowledge of relevant environmental health legislation and regulatory practices
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to write clear and concise reports
- Well-developed computer skills, including Microsoft Office and database systems
- Current full New Zealand driver's licence
