Team Leader - Governance and Executive Support

Our friendly Governance and Legal Team is seeking a Team Leader on a fixed-term basis whilst the incumbent is on secondment. This role provides an excellent opportunity to lead a high-performing, motivated team that perform a crucial function within Council.

Key responsibilities for this role include:

  • Lead the Executive Support and Governance team
  • Support the Executive Leadership team
  • Co-ordinate Governance functions including reports for agendas and the release of agendas to enable smooth functions of Council and that all reports look professional and met Council's minimum standards
  • Work with the Manager - Governance and Legal to co-ordinate governance support to all elected members and be the point of first contact for councillors to ask a question
  • Assist the management of official information requests

What you will bring:

  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in executive support and/or Governance roles
  • Ability to make informed judgement calls based on fact and in the interest of the organisation
  • Proven ability to build a strong positive rapport and effective working relationships with diverse groups of people
  • Attention to detail, with excellent grammar and written communication skills
  • Governance knowledge, including of standing orders and the Local Government Act
  • A willingness to help out where needed

This is an 18-month fixed-term, full-time position working 40 hours per week, primarily 8.00am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday.
