Reporting to the Manager - Risk and Continuous Improvement, you will play a key role in supporting and ensuring a consistent application of Council's Risk Management Framework and approach across the organisation. You will support the day-to-day risk management activities, understand and analyse risks to enable reporting on key themes and provide a view on the appropriateness of controls and mitigation implemented.

Our friendly Risk and Continuous Improvement team are seeking a Risk and Audit Specialist.

The hours of work for this position are 8:00am - 5:00pm Monday - Friday.

Key responsibilities for this role include:

• Supporting the implementation and ongoing development of Council's Risk Management Framework.
• Facilitating risk identification, assessment, treatment and reporting activities across the organisation.
• Maintaining and reviewing strategic and operational risk registers.
• Delivering high quality risk management training in a variety of settings including 1:1, group workshops and presentations.
• Contributing to the development and review of risk content within key strategic/operational documents and plans.
• Producing reports and performance indicators for use internally, including reporting for the Risk and Assurance Committee.
• Conducting internal audits and providing practical recommendations to improve processes and controls.
• Supporting investigations, corrective action planning and assurance activities.

What you will bring:

• 6-8 years' experience in enterprise and operational risk management, auditing, or a related discipline
• A tertiary qualification (or equivalent experience) in risk management, auditing or a related field
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and report-writing skills
• The ability to build trusted relationships with stakeholders at all levels
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Experience influencing, coaching and supporting managers and teams
• A customer-focused, solutions-oriented approach
• Strong Microsoft Office skills and the ability to learn new systems and tools quickly
• Current Full Class 1 New Zealand Drivers Licence
