Our friendly Museum and Heritage Services are seeking a Maintenance and Security Officer to work within our Operations and Visitor Services team to ensure the museum facilities are well maintained and secure for staff and visitors alike.
The hours of work for this position are 40 hours per week. This may include rostered weekend work and Public Holidays once Te Unua is open to the public.
Key responsibilities for this role include:
- Ensure museum and storage facility building services and fit out components are maintained and serviced to a high standard
- Conducting routine inspections and general maintenance of museum facilities, including lighting, plumbing, and HVAC systems
- Coordinate with external suppliers and internal stakeholders to plan and schedule property maintenance activities
- Monitoring security systems, site and security access for staff and contractors.
- Conducting security reviews of the museum and related building, protecting exhibitions, objects, staff, visitors and museum property.
What you will bring:
- 5 years' experience in working in maintenance, security, trade, or a related field.
- Trade Qualification(s) (Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC, Carpentry)
- Knowledge of building maintenance, health and safety standards, and security procedures.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to respond effectively to emergencies.
- Physical fitness to carry out patrols and maintenance tasks.
