Swim Teacher

Swimming is a vital life skill and one that someday may mean the difference between life and death. Do you want to make a difference?

Our friendly Aquatic Services team have a permanent part-time Swim Teacher position available, with an hourly rate of $24.60 - $27 dependant on the skills and experience of the successful applicant.

The hours of work available for this position are 11.5 hours per week to be worked Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday.

Key responsibilities for this role include:

  • Monitor and supervise the safety of customers during swim lessons
  • Provide assessments on ‘Learn to Swim' students, as and when required
  • Instruct high quality and consistent ‘Learn to Swim' lessons to students of all levels of ability, and a range of ages from adults to infants
  • Ensure ongoing Lifeguard and Swim Teaching training is carried out as per instructions
  • Communicate effectively with ‘Learn to Swim' students, their parents/guardian and with other instructors

What you will bring:

  • NZASTA (New Zealand Assistant Swim Teacher Award) or ability to obtain
  • First Aid Certificate or ability to obtain
  • National Lifeguard Award
  • Ability to lead a group of pre-schoolers
  • High level of customer relations and communication skills
